ORDEM DOS ARQUITECTOS . COMPETITION PROPOSAL
Lisboa . 2020
Picking up a conversation in an interesting way might not be so evident if we want to (keep) end it in a good note. We must listen to what has been said, what was the topic and the tone, to find what kind of language we shall use. Discussing the “home” of the Architect is to speak in the same language but not necessarily on the same tone.
A design that comes freely in the emptiness between the compact existing Ordem dos Arquitectos headquarters and the vernacular facade to preserve provide a proper role to all elements.
The floor by floor fragmented vertical volume plays with the existing building horizontal mass and shapes a continuum with the gable, while narrow external spaces are revealed as we walk by in the same way we feel going through alleys and bystreets of spontaneous medieval Lisbon.
