MARTIM MARIA BRAGA DA CUNHA FERREIRA
ARCHITECT | LISBON | 1976
Senior Partner Cunha Ferreira Arquitectos Lda
Acquired most of his professional experience at MC Arquitectos where he participated, among other projects, in the conception of the Exterior Accesses to the Lisbon Airport Metro Station and in the public competitions for the Todos os Santos and Central Algarve hospitals.
In parallel, Martim has dedicated a large part of his practice to designing residential architecture projects and remodelations in the city of Lisbon, providing him with skills and competencies not only in the exercise of architecture but also in building-site coordination, supervision and management.
As well as his experience in project design, Martim has also worked on custom furniture design, adapting style, form and function to each new challenge.
Versatility is part of his nature, born from a diverse background including a BA in Architecture from the Lusíada University of Lisbon in 2001, a year in the diocesan seminary (2001-2002), studies in Philosophy and Humanities at the Catholic University of Braga (2005-2006) and in Sculpture at the AR.CO centre for art and communication (2006-2007). This enriching path led him back to his first passion, architecture, with a unique spiritual and affective gaze.
Martim sees architecture as a service to others, demanding an intellectual, affective, physical and financial effort: a concrete and sustainable action of beauty and consolation.
In the social entrepreneurship field, Martim was part of the winning team of the "II BootCamp powered by INSEAD" with the project BRINCA.nee and is founding partner of “A-F-A-B-R-I-C-A”, a cultural and environmental centre that aims to socially and economically invigorate the county of Odemira, in the Alentejo, by attracting the national and international creative community.
Has worked in partnership with various practices, namely CAS Arquitectos, Paralelo Zero and Afonso de Almeida Fernandes.
