Along the main axis defined by the Fátima Urban Development Plan, the building is located at the top of a central green space within the urban center.
As a deliberate design choice, the proposal calls for a fragmented building volume that is offset from the urban axis, so as not to introduce yet another prominent building along this axis—which is home to the Basilica and the axis of the complex, both spaces of sacred use.
The building’s architectural design is deliberately understated, emphasizing the volumetric treatment of the various spaces and employing simple textures—both on the solid walls and in the openings—with rhythms that are suited to the variations in scale and size of each space.
The project, covering 17,000 m², is divided into three main areas—the Convention and Exhibition Center, the Hotel Management School, and the Training Hotel—which are interconnected within the complex of areas dedicated to food service.
